It has been quite a week around here and it is only Tuesday. Yesterday, we said goodbye to our Beta fish – Bubbles. He is currently on a play-date…indefinitely. I feel very sad about this because I thought that we took especially good care of him. His tank was consistently cleaned, he was fed on a regular basis – the Jewish mother in me assured this – and we gave him plenty of attention… sort of. In a last minute effort to revive him, I ran to Petco for advice. Of course, my children have never inquired about him until yesterday, when they tirelessly asked of his whereabouts. Needless to say, he will be back from his play-date soon, looking a bit different and perhaps a little younger and more energetic.
As we are talking about more adult topics, I am also preparing to put my kids in beds this month. They are definitely too young for this, but the cribs do not seem to hold them anymore so I do not think there is much choice for us at this point. I promised Brody a bed with race cars, while Bryce requested anything and all things princess and ballerina. Since I would like some consistency in their bedding, as they currently share a room, I am personalizing their beds in pillows.
I discovered this doll-maker on Etsy and knew this was the perfect way to assure Bryce was happy with her ‘ballerina bed.’ These dolls are handmade with 100 percent cotton fabric. Our ballerina also wears a tulle tutu and a long braid made of the softest yarn I have felt yet. Her blue hair matches the gender neutral theme of the nursery, but I made sure there was enough pink for Bryce’s taste.
While a bit on the pricey side, since each doll is made to order and can be completely customized to your tastes. I know this will be an heirloom that Bryce (or I) keep for quite some time. It is simple enough to appeal to her young age, but ornate and sophisticated enough to grow with her. It will also look adorable sitting atop her ‘big girl bed.’ I just hope she does not bring it into mine each night.
