When my kids were very young, I purchased this sandwich cutter by FUNBITES after a night of binge watching Shark Tank episodes, and, as always, ordering the bulk of my favorite products online.
I was looking forward to starting solids, as my kids were about to turn six months, and I thought that this would add to the allure of new foods. Only, they were a little too young and had virtually no interest in doing anything more than sucking on whole loaves of bread. They did not care that their miniature grilled cheese sandwiches were neatly sliced into the shape of hearts, and found more joy throwing each piece off the high chair than placing it in their mouths.
Fast forward to two-years-old. Now, my erratic eaters liked to be excited by food. This includes presentation. Talk about high maintenance toddlers, I try my best to create an aesthetically pleasing meal, but sometimes I just want to throw together a sandwich and call it a day. I have spoken about toothpicks and Mickey Mouse waffles before, and this is just another item that I like to have in my tool belt.
Since Bryce likes anything feminine – I mean anything pink, purple, with glitter or sparkles or unicorns – and Brody just likes anything novel or different, they enjoy the heart pattern I picked out.
This also turns lunch into a bit of a puzzle as they try to place the broken heart pieces back into their original form. Plus, I can make an array of simple sandwich lunches like peanut butter and jelly much more alluring.
Deceptively easy…for the most part…sometimes!
