I always love dual purpose items, or re-purposing household materials for uses other than their initial intention. This thread holder is one of those items that immediately became a toy car holder the minute I saw it. You see, Brody loves cars, and really all things that go. This is the case for many children his age.
What may be different about him is that he is also a hoarder. He pushes around a shopping cart filled with items he finds around the apartment like some of the quirky, boundless people you see on the streets of New York City. Hidden in this mess are his cars, which I also find piled and stashed under pillows and in vases throughout our home. Dare you touch his clutter and he will emit sounds of fury and a waterfall of tears in true toddler fashion. You are not to mess with his stash.
Bryce on the other hand, in absolute sisterly torment, derives endless pleasure at sneaking a toy here and there from his various collections. While sometimes this goes unnoticed, more often it results in the entire pile falling over and Brody hysterically crying while desperately trying to pull his toy back. Needless to say, ‘Leave each other alone,’ and ‘Share your toys,’ are two very common phrases in our house.
When I saw this organizer on Amazon, I knew this may help alleviate some of the clutter that is building up in our home, and give Brody a place to arrange his cars in a more civilized and mommy-pleasing manner. He can see each of the individual vehicles in his set with this double-sided case and there are even some larger sections for his trucks and other off-roading vehicles. As he accumulates even more, the holder is deep enough to allow for doubling up within the sections, which makes me both relieved that they can be sorted, and nervous about adding even more cars into an already obsessive pastime.
Also, I do not see why you cannot try other small toy collections in this holder, like Shopkins or Little People. It would be great personalized and given as a gift to the little hoarder in your life.
