I love anything with sentimental meaning, which is why I am a monogramming addict. I don’t think I have ever NOT checked the “personalize it” box when ordering a gift, especially when it is for me. I feel an extra sense of pride or ownership when showcasing something that is distinctly mine.
My love of all things blatantly self promoting started with a set of towels for my first post-college apartment, and grew to napkins, coasters, linens, coat linings, handbags and of course, jewelry. I transferred this obsession to my kids, monogramming their backpacks, hanging name plates on their nursery walls, and boxes and bins galore painted and filled with each child’s corresponding toys. I am beginning to worry about teaching the importance of sharing with Bryce and Brody’s belongings so distinctly noted.
Men’s items, on the other hand, are a bit more limited. There are cufflinks and shirt collars, travel cases and wallets. But, overall, Eric’s belongings could be anyone’s. In light of Father’s Day preparation in a few weeks, I am posting a favorite personalized pair. I received these Nike iD sneakers for Mother’s Day, but I don’t see why they can’t be transferred to the deserving daddy in your life.
My kid’s names are discreetly sewn into the back tags. You could mistake them for the brand label, but I like knowing there is a hidden, intimate quality to even my every day workout wear.
Many stroller-pushing mommies and daddies will agree that sneakers are a necessary wardrobe staple for hauling kids around the city.
