I have long been a devotee to UGG-brand anything. I stomped around college in the original “chestnut” colored boots everyday, during the cold midwest winters. When I moved back to New York, I still embraced their boots and shoes. While a little boxy and awkward looking, they were so comfortable during my early morning subway commute that they were worth the style sacrifice. When UGG came out with a line of slippers, I happily jumped on board and embraced the thick rubber sole, which allowed me to take out the trash in my pajamas.
However, this is not a post about UGGs. In fact, it is how I found something, maybe even better.
If you haven’t figured out by now, I am a huge supporter of small business vendors, particularly on Etsy. It just makes sense. The prices are typically a bit more reasonable than big chain suppliers, the quality is often hand-made, and you are able to link-up with new products, globally. That is how I found my latest slipper obsession. I was obviously multi-tasking during a typical post-bedtime TV binge, searching for a slipper update, as 5 months of bed rest and a two years at home with infant and now toddler twins had taken its toll on my once plush leopard slip-ons.
These sheepskin scuffers are very similar to their UGG counterpart, but almost half the price and double as stylish. I loved the fur lining, and the sheepskin interior was similar to my beloved UGGs. I took a chance ordering them without trying them on, and just went up a size as I like to wear bulky socks with my pajamas – sexy, I know. A major complaint I had about my former slippers was their heaviness. These have insanely light rubber soles, like clouds lined in fox fur surrounding my feet. The vendor is based in Greece and they are handmade, so the lead time is a bit longer than expected, but totally worth the wait. These slippers have not only glammed up my tired mom feet, but they are now my go to gift for my other momma friends and those of us that find ourselves in sweatpants and/or pajamas for a sufficiently large portion of the day.
