Often, we are house-guests over the summer. While we mostly camp out at my parents or my in-laws, there are several occasions where very generous friends and family have invited us to their summer homes for the weekend and we happily oblige. Any excuse to beat the oppressive city heat. I am always looking for cute host/hostess gifts to bring along. Often, it is a new set of ice cream bowls and ice cream, given the season, or a case of their favorite wine. Both gifts we can also partake in, if you see the trend.
I am kind of obsessed with this new store that recently opened in New York City. I stumbled upon it while walking the vacant streets of the Upper East Side on a Friday afternoon, last week. It is really amazing how the entire city clears out during the summer weekends. It is both thrilling and isolating to wander amidst such quiet.
Okay, back to the shop. While they have standard variety chocolates and gummy candy, they also have a creative line of alcohol infused products like single-malt scotch filled chocolate balls, gummy bears made with ‘Dom Perignon’ champagne and most recently, ‘Whispering Angel’ rose wine infused gummy roses – a personal summer favorite. Other unique products we loved were the chocolate bacon pretzel balls and the maple bourbon caramels. Plus, you can eat these all day and you won’t look like a total alcoholic. Although, you will likely look a bit rounder.
I created a gift box for none other than myself this weekend. Honestly, after entertaining my children in the pool all morning – which included repeated soakings with a water shooter, lifting both kids on and off a raft repeatedly and chasing them around the perimeter of the pool to keep their floaties on – all while my husband was golfing, I felt I deserved it.
The pale ‘Tiffany’ blue packaging and the ability to design your own “bento” style gift box, makes this my new go-to host gift. They are the perfect compliment to a nice bottle of wine, or three, and they are certainly a conversation starter in their own right.
The store has locations all over the United States and online for those lazy shoppers like myself. Who wouldn’t want boozy candy delivered on demand.
