Wishful thinking, but I’m finding it hard to leave a husband and two kids to hang in the desert right now at Coachella, despite my recent obsession with all things whimsical and bohemian.
I guess I will have to play out my 60’s fantasies in a different way. And that means dressing up – particularly my children.
While I have been recently stocking up on graphic t-shirts and ripped cotton shorts for Brody, I tend to dress Bryce a little more dramatically. Maybe it’s the girl connection, or a deep hidden longing to be a little girl again, but Bryce’s wardrobe has multiplied at a frenetic pace. Right now, I have an addiction to cotton voile tops in an array of Liberty prints, endless smocking and rompers. Rompers are a particular favorite. They are casual yet finished. They cinch Bryce’s tiny waist and add a little bulk to her legs, and they look ridiculously adorable yet also chic and a little retro.
I wish I could pull off half of Bryce’s wardrobe, especially those glasses. I guess that is why they say ‘we live life through out children again.’ I love my daughter, and want to be her in a totally normal, not weird, healthy way 🙂
While searching for a summer selection of statement pieces for Bryce, suited for a music fair (or just glorified bibs for our recent spring ice cream obsession), I found Peas and Queues, an LA-based clothing brand for kids. This romper was an immediate buy, not to mention their poncho-like pullovers, vibrant harem pants, and ruffled cotton collection. Restraint is not something I find easy.
