The weather was absolutely beautiful this weekend, which was a special treat because we were out on Long Island. There are few things in life I like more than spending the day by the water with my family, eating shellfish and drinking wine while my kids play in the sand, and finishing off the evening with a trip to Ralph’s for cream ices. Days like these really highlight why summer is truly the greatest season for both kids and adults, alike.
For my birthday, I wanted a new pair of sunglasses that I could interchange with my beloved Le Specs – more on that double-defense shopping trip with kids, at a later date – You see, I have had a pretty hard time diversifying my collection after buying these shades earlier in the year.
Indeed, I have a pretty common issue with sunglasses, which is, I break them all the time or now, more commonly, my kids break them for me. They are constantly being pulled and tugged off my face, tried on, and sometimes even left behind as we always seem to be in a constant rush. Knowing this hazard, these have been the only pair of sunglasses that I purchased since Bryce and Brody’s birth, on a whim, online.
Pretty risky to buy a pair without trying it on first, but I was so in love with the style and the $79 price tag that I took a leap of faith and was pleasantly surprised.
Since then, I have received an overwhelming amount of compliments, leaving my more expensive pairs in the drawer to collect dust. I swear, these were the deal of the century. I love the mirror lenses and the slight tortoise shell cat-eye shape. Even more importantly, I do not feel as guilty if they are broken in the black hole of my endless mommy beach bag or in the hustle to get the kids dressed and to camp every day.
Since all the sunglasses in this line hover around the same price tag, I think these are a necessity for stylish mommy gear. Plus, they are a bit sexier in design, leaving you wishing you were sometimes by yourself on that beach with a cocktail. Right?
