So the weather has been absolutely beautiful in New York. We have been spending a lot of time at the pool with family. But, with the fourth of July right around the corner, we will be venturing out to eastern Long Island, to share the holiday with friends at the beach in Montauk.
Despite how much I dislike cleaning sand out of toddler diapers, my kids are total beach bums. They could build sand castles all day, and Brody is absolutely mesmerized by the ocean. He runs in and out of the waves for hours, while Bryce fills up her pails with water, lugging them to and from her sand structure.
Me, I like to sit in the shade and watch them enjoy such a simple pleasure. It is really heartwarming to watch your kids having that much fun, and I often long to be so carefree again. Their only worry is a big wave or a broken shovel. I love them, and I envy them, immensely.
While I contemplate life, and watch my kids, I am very happy to sit on this blanket. It is probably one of my other favorite reasons to visit the beach. I love the “animal hide” look. It is very large, so I can keep the sand out of my belongings, and it is also a bit edgier than those corporate beach towel giveaways that my husband prefers to use.
It is definitely a bit pricey, especially for a towel, but I have had mine for five years now, and it looks as vibrant and lush as the day I fell in love with it in a magazine. Plus, it is really the only beach towel I have ever needed. I may not be a tan sun-goddess, hiding in a hat under an umbrella, but at least my blanket has sex appeal.
