Getting my kids out of the bath, or pool, takes a lot of strength and perseverance. First, I have to bargain with them, which usually includes some form of bribery to stand up so I can wrap a towel around them and scoop them out of the water without getting soaked, myself. Then, in true toddler fashion, they immediately take off running naked around the apartment as soon as I take out their pajamas.
On a nightly basis, you can usually see the imprints of little wet toddler steps leading out of the bathroom.
The same is true post-pool. While they complain that they are cold upon leaving the water, they are more than happy to jump right out of their towels as I chase them in horror around the pool.
I wish I could take credit for this one, but it was a good friend who tipped me off to the best camp towels and possibly best toddler towels ever. These towel ponchos are not only appealing in design, but also amazingly practical for young children. They slip right over both children’s heads so even if and when they jet off post-swim, they will stay a bit drier, and certainly warmer, without needing a stronghold grip from me.
They are also a bit happier to wear them knowing that it is a pseudo dress-up experience. Brody pretends he is a monster truck and Bryce enjoys being a mermaid or Minnie Mouse. After the summer is over, I may just store them in their dress up trunk.
It is so much easier to drape this over their wet heads rather than wrapping a towel or belting a bathrobe around them.
Bryce wore hers this morning for breakfast, right after I took it out of the Amazon box. I guess it can be used in place of a bib?
